Good piece in Business 2.0 on Cyworld’s entry into the US market. It’ll be interesting to see how much the user experience and business model have to be adjusted for US tastes. When will buying virtual currency become cool?
The bulk of Cyworld revenue comes from the sale of virtual items worth nearly $300,000 a day, or more than $7 per user per year. By comparison, ad-heavy MySpace makes an estimated $2.17 per user per year.
Well. Their business model is okay. But I guess those decoration items can’t catch guys. I mean I don’t want to have that cyworld because I am worrying that my friends might think I am “different” guy.
It’s just too pretty.
Found a recent article which is kind of interesting.
Cyworld Lands on MySpace
Thanks for posting this. I had not heard of CyWorld before. After reading your post, I just checked their site, and I think it looks pretty cool, so I joined to test it how and see how it goes. I can’t compare it to MySpace yet, as I haven’t tested CyWorld yet, but from what I see of it so far, I don’t think the two realy compare. They are to differant from each other.
