As an east coast entrepreneur that is VC backed in a consumer Internet play that is doing a new twist with an old concept, I can honestly say that the bar is much higher out here in terms of securing funding than it is on the west coast– at least from the type of venture fund you would want to have on board. Is this a good or a bad thing? Depends on your plan and on your resiliensce I guess. If you are truly trying to build something new, at the end of the day, raising money (even from the most selective of VCs) will be one of the easiest things you do whether that is on the west coast, east coast or anywhere else.
